I'll be attending the Left Coast Crime convention for mystery writers and fans in Santa Fe March 24-27. I'm speaking on a panel about "Growing Young Readers" and giving a talk on "What I Learned from Nancy Drew." I'll also be introducing my two new books! The Eyes of Pharaoh is a middle grade mystery set in ancient Egypt. Rattled is my first book for adults, a romantic suspense set in the Southwest (for more info, visit www.krisbock.com.)

On April 12, I present the SCBWI New Mexico schmooze at Alamosa Books, 7 pm: The publishing world is filled with buzz about self-published authors making it big through e-books. Is this a shortcut to success? The standard of the future? Or just a bunch of misleading hype? I'll explain the self-publishing process and help you decide if and when this path might be right for you.

On April 16, illustrator Lois Bradley and I will present a workshop on Writing or Illustrating Children's Books in El Paso, Texas.

On May 14 I'll be at Alamosa books in Albuquerque again. Jennifer Cervantes, Uma Krishnaswami, Kimberley Griffiths Little, and I will present a panel on middle grade novels. This one is free and open to the public.

In online news, I did a series of posts on the group blog The Spectacle (devoted to speculative fiction). I explored self-publishing, with thoughts on why even pro authors are considering it a viable option today.

Visit http://thespectacleblog.wordpress.com/ and search for or click on the topic link to self-publishing.

I've added a regular Wednesday post on self-publishing on my blog, http://chriseboch.blogspot.com/. Fridays will still cover the craft of writing.
